NCAA Week 6 and NFL Week 5 Picks

I need to hire a secretary to do my typing for me each week as I am pressed for time as per usual this week. Maybe this secretary can make my picks too, couldn't do any worse I'm sure. No excuses though as I charge ahead looking to get back to respectability. Here we go:

NCAA Action:

Iowa +4 The Hawkeyes always save their best for Penn St., even in Happy Valley that trend continues here as both teams are mediocre. I will accept the 4 points in this rivalry.Loss.

3 Units.

Kansas State +4 A live home dog here. I like the Cats in this spot. This is a good K-State squad who Bill Snyder has been piloting under the radar. Mizzou has been getting alot of credit thus far in the season and I am not quite sure as to why.Win.

3 Units.

LSU -14 Poor Gators, a beating by the hands of Bama at home in the Swamp now they have to get up for the Tigers in Death Valley. This game will be a measuring stick for the Hat as he looks to have a feeding frenzy against a UF squad who will be starting a back up QB in Driskell. Although this kid is supposed to be really good, he won't be ready for whats going to happen in Baton Rouge.Win.

3 Units.

East Carolina +12 I'm sensing a purple team theme this weekend. Houston is garbage and Kennum has done a backwards march and slid way down in Heisman relativity. Too many points here for a Houston squad that has been highly unimpressive thus far. East Carolina can score points and I am fairly certain they can keep this one within 10. Loss.

3 Units.

Nebraska -11 The Huskers are looking for their first Big 10 statement game and just as the doctor ordered here comes the Buckeyes into Lincoln. The Buckeyes had trouble to say the least finding the endzone against Sparty and that trend will continue as Ohio State is again missing players due to suspensions for getting a little bit too much compensation for their summer jobs. Martinez bounces back into Pellini's good graces with a solid outing. Loss.

3 Units.

NFL Picks

Not much on the slate this weekend for NFL action, wasn't blown away by any of the spreads.

Packers -6 The Falcons are garbage and will get blown out at home in storybook style. The Packers are unstoppable on offense and the Falcons D gave up 28 to Tavaris Jackson last week. The Falcons offense is having an identity crisis and as long as they keep this up they will continue to struggle.Win.

5 Units.

Bills +3 Jumping back on the Bills this week as the public has faded them for losing to the Bengals. The Eagles are still getting credit because the public hates money. Not sure how a 1-3 team is better than an at home 3-1 team but I will take the money. Buffalo outright. Win.

3 Units.

Bengals +3 Gabbert will struggle against this undervalued Cincy D. The Jags can stop the run game, but the Bengals do not really have one. I like getting 3 points here in this game which will be a battle of field goals and field position. Win.

3 Units

NFL Week #14 Pick 'em

Had a user unfriendly weekend this past weekend. Wrapped up the college regular season going 33-30-5, made some money there. In NFL action we are siting at 37-28-2 with a huge slate of games set for today, so be that I'm already running late lets get to the picks.

Chargers -10 Bounce back game for the Bolts here, a much needed home win opportunity presents itself for the Chargers here. The Chiefs should be relying heavily on the running game here with Cassell out and Croyle starting on the road. Let's hope the Chargers can stop the run this week and get some payback on KC. 3 units. Win.

Ravens -3 Coming off a tough loss to the Steelers the Ravens get to go on the road and play the Texans who are not very good on defense. The Ravens need this win to keep pace with Pittsburgh in the AFC North. Flacco should have a decent game against the less than stellar Texans defense. 2 units. Win.

Bengals +9 This is the Bengals Superbowl game and opportunity to give a hated rival an early Christmas present of a loss. The Steelers are coming of a huge win on the road against Baltimore and could be looking past the Bungals. Cincy has been making a habit of coming back late in games to get a backdoor cover. 1 unit. Loss.

Browns+1 Cleveland goes to play in Buffalo, even though Jake Delhomme is their QB the Browns Peyton Hillis will have a field day against a terrible Bills stop unit who has given up nearly 500 yards on the ground the last two weeks. The Browns pass defense will do enough to keep the Bills offense from producing. 2 units. Loss.

Rams +10 The Saints are laying too many points here, even though they are at home and the Rams do not play so well on the road. Bradford shouldn't have much trouble carving up the Saints wishy-washy defense and the Rams D will do enough to keep them in this game. 5 units. Loss.

Seahawks +6 The 49ers shouldn't be favored by 6 against anyone. Singletary continues to play musical QB and they will have an affect on his team as will the loss of Frank Gore who is integral to the 49ers offense. Given those two factors you cant tell me that the 49ers should be favored by a touchdown. 2 units. Loss.

Pats -3 Should be a sloppy game due to field and weather conditions, but for me the Pats are just playing too well right now and laying money on Cutler is never endearing to me. Usually games like this its a safe bet to take the dog, however I just can't go against the Hoodie & Company right now. 2 units. Win.

Dolphins +6 Henne has been playing better QB as the Dolphins head to the new Meadowlands for a divisional game with the hated Jets. The Sanchise has been less than impressive as has the Jets defense. Their record doesn't reflect all the close games they barely squeaked out, the Dolphins can keep it within 6. 4 units. Win.

Broncos -4 Why not right? The Cards struggle to produce offense even with their starting QB under center, now they are trotting out 3rd stringer John Skelton, from?????? Fordham. We know that the Broncos offense can put up points quickly lets hope the defense gives us the same performance they did last week against KC. 3 units. Loss.

There you go 8 games on tap, lets get some double digit money for our Monday morning deposit.

NCAA Week #14 Pick 'em

Another dismal week in college as I went 3-2. We are now standing at 32-27-4 on the season. This is the last week so there are alot of rivalry matchups going down Saturday. Running behind a little bit this week so I will post some small write ups on the games, for more in depth analysis tune into the Vegas Takedown Show at 10pm tonight only at www.blogtalkradio.com/gametheory

Northern Illinois -18 MAC champy game here and the Huskies are at home and playing some solid football. I dislike betting hard earned money on MAC games, but I think NIU has a solid team and will put the Redhawks at parade rest.Loss.

Oregon -17 The Ducks better step their game up here as the partake in the Civil War against the Beavs. The Ducks have been sluggish in the first half as of late, so that calls for a light play on this game. Oregon State on the other hand has slipped and had trouble finding the endzone as of late.Push.

South Carolina +6 This game in Atlanta will have a mixed crowd, I like Auburn to win by 2. The Gamecocks have the talent to stay with Auburn on both sides of the ball. Newton escapes the Georgia Dome with a W, I escape with some Vegas money! Loss.

FSU +4 The Seminoles have looked really good as of late and Ponder will put everything he has in this game. VT doesn't impress me and the Seminoles have the momentum to take this one outright.Loss.

Nevada -10 I'll be honest, I hate this team and the QB, but La Tech struggles against the pass and it will show in this contest. Win.

There you have it enjoy!

NCAA Week #8 Pick em

Had another ho-hum Saturday last week going a pedestrian 3-2, which brings me to a total of 14-15-3 on the year. I'm fighting the good fight to get over the hump. Not much for games that caught my eye this week but I have found some that we can make some money on. So lets see whats on the money docket for Saturday (and Friday)

Cincinnati -8 As most readers and listeners of the show know I am a USF Alumni, they have severely disappointed me this year, more so on offense. I have now become jaded with my own team. The Bearcats are a pretty solid squad and they always have USF's number. UC is tough at home and their 3 losses have come against #7 Utah, #3 OU and a decent NC State team on the road. The Bearcats lost to the Sooners and Utes by a combined 5 points on the road. The Bulls defense will do what they can, but ultimately the USF offense just can't sustain drives or move the chains. Daniels will throw his usual 2-3 picks and the Bulls just don't have a homerun hitter on offense. Bearcats by 10.
4 units. Loss.

Michigan St. -5 I never bought into the Wildcat hype, they are paper tigers who haven't played anyone and lost to Perdue and squeaked by Minnie and CMU. Sparty looks like a solid squad this year and have won some big games. I know that NW is 5-1 ATS versus Sparty in the last 6 games but this is a complete Michigan State squad that has yet to take a game off. Sparty takes it by 7.
2 units. Win.

Auburn -6 Let me preface this by saying I can't stand Auburn or Cam Newton. If you have been listening to the show you will have knowledge of the fact that I think LSU is a fraud. They will be on the road and forced to play a ranked team at night in the SEC. The LSU offense is a crap shoot. LSU has yet to beat anyone of note and struggling against Mcnese State isn't a good sign. The Tigers Auburn type will win this battle of undefeated.
1 unit. Win.

Washington State +35 The Cougars have covered 4 out of their last 5. Getting 7 touchdowns my way makes me happy. Stanford has been less than impressive since they got picture framed in Eugene. The Cougars will be able to put up 14-21 on the Cardinals overrated defense, I don't see the Cardinals lighting up the scoreboard and scoring 50-57 points, Stanford wins by 21.
4 units. Win.

Colorado State +31 The Rams have covered 4 out of their last 5 games, to include last weeks 33 point win against the Rebels of UNLV. The Rams have been improving (for them) the last few weeks. They will be on the road against a familiar foe against Utah. Jordan Winn struggled last week throwing 3 picks against Wyoming. No doubt the Utes get the win but 31 points in too much for them in this contest.
3 units. Loss.

There you have it my money loving friends. Would it be too much to ask for a 5-o weekend to get me over the hump or what? Well I am off to start working on my NFL action. Vegas has been getting the better of me thus far, I guess I am due some payback because I have been crushing them over the last few years. Good luck.

Week 16 NFL Action

Simple equation folks, my picks+ your money= profits for you. I went 3-1-1 last week which in my terms would be graded as ok. I will put forth a great effort to this week to increase our bottom line. Much like most of you my account was hammered by the purchase of Christmas presents, bye bye credit limit. I have a total of 8 games this weekend, me likey.

Jags+7 vs. Colts: The Jaguars hate the Colts and want to beat them badly. This will be Jacksonville's superbowl. Last week the Colts struggled at home versus the Lions and the Jags managed a win against the Pack. Look for MJD to have a huge game, the colts simply cannot stop the run and Drew scorced them in their first meeting. This series is usually very close, 11 of 13 contests have been by 8 points or less. Push, hello same amount of money, I hate giving interest free loans, and the Jags hate having 2 TD leads.

Chiefs +4 vs. Dolphins: Dolphins can't cover spreads at home, so why are they favored in KC and at Arrowhead in December of all places. The Dolphins will have no answer for Gonzalez or Bowe, Thigpen has continued to play well and even though the Dolphins don't turn the ball over I just don't see them covering at Arrowhead. I like the Chiefs to win outright. Loss, bye bye money, the begining of a terrible Sunday for my accounty.

Lions +7 vs. Saints: It just occured to me that I am taking the home dogs alot so far, that usually tends to pay dividends in the accounty. That being said I think the Lions will win their first game here against the Saints, Drew Brees is not good on the road and the Lions have been playing hard. So the Saints have nothing to play for and will be sans Reggie Bush, Meanwhile the Lions are looking to avoid a trip to the NFL HOF for the wrong reasons. Somehow I don't see Jason David being able to cover Calvin Johnson, also look for Kevin Smith to get involved in the passing game to because the Saints are 11th versus the run. Loss, bye bye money, the Lions hate me and my accounty.

Bengals +3 @ Browns: Ken Dorsey is terrible, wow, I don't think I have ever seen a QB that bad, which begs the question why don't the Browns just leave Josh Cribbs in at QB. Also Jamal Lewis might be the slowest human being on the face of the earth, the fans will be all over Braylon Edwards.................................FROM? Michigan, apparently there are some hostilities between the fans and Edwards. Cedric "DUI" Benson.................................FROM? Texas, ran wild on the Redskins and Ryan Fitzpatrick............................FROM? Harvard played pretty well against the Redskins secondary. Win, hello money. Wow everyone look, I actually covered a game.

Steelers -2 @ Titans: Titans will be without Vanden Bosch and Haynesworth, I don't think the Titans have the firepower to score enough points on the Steelers defense, which has been playing lights out. As I stated earlier the Titans have had a relatively easy schedule this year, I don't see the combo of Johnson and White doing much against the Steelers D, forcing Collins into tough throwing situations. I like the Steelers here. Loss, bye bye money. I forgot Big Ben hates having footballs in his hand, maybe put some more gloves on.

Texans -7 @ Raiders: The Raiders are a dumpster fire, the Texans are playing for their first winning season. Andre Johnson is unstoppable, Matt Schaub and Steve Slaton have been excellent as well. I think the Texans would even cover this one if Sage Rosenchoker himself were playing. Loss, bye bye money. Are the Raiders becoming....................decent?

Seahawks +5 vs. Jets: I like this game ALOT, the Jets can't win on the west coast let alone cover. Seneca Wallace = a covering machine, Seneca Wallace...............................FROM? Iowa State. The Jets are a tad overrated in my opinion and I think they are starting to see their cracks. Plus the Jets have a showdown with the patriots next week, no doubt they will look past Seattle, who by the way New England squeaked by. The public is pounding the Jets to the tune of 76%, me likey. I think Seattle wins this one outright. Win. Hello money, this one was easy though. The "Backdoor Bandit" struck again.

Eagles -5 @ Redskins: Well at least the Eagles tied the vaunted Bengals. The Eagles have been playing great football lately, the Redskins not so much. I look for the Eagles to keep on rolling as they hope to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Mcnabb, Westbrook and Jackson should have nice games. Loss, bye bye money. I seem to always be a week off on when the Eagles will decide to play.

That's all my action, enjoy as the regular season is winding down and its time to pry the rest of vegas's money from their hands!!!

Week 12 NFL Action

Loyal readers and degenerate gamblers, I am at a loss. Vegas was piling up money last weekend until the 4pm games kicked off then Vegas looked up at the flat screens and said "bye bye money" Vegas sportsbooks had another horrible week. This is most likely due to the parity in the NFL this year. I have not yet conferred with my battle Billy Vegas yet today, I was placed on timeout for watching hockey while I was awaiting "The Shield" to start. Here is what I have so far. (Please keep in mind that double digit favorites are 1-12 ATS this year)

Titans -5 vs Jets: Heavy public betting on the Jets. This will be a statement game for the Titans as the Jets are 7-3 and the Titans are still looking to be recognized for their 10-0 start. Brett "I can throw interceptions too" Favre is due a choke game, since it didnt happen against the Patriots the Human Turnover machine might make an appearance here. The Jets Kris Jenkins has done well stopping the run, but at the same time Collins has proven he can do more than just manage then game by passing for 200 yards or more the last 2 games. Im riding the Titans till the wheels fall off. Loss. Titans suck, fuck them.

Vikings +3 @ Jags: Jags can't stop the run, Peterson will be able to open up the play action game for Frerotte to hit Berrian and Shaincoe (sp?) down the field against Jax's lackluster secondary. The Jags are deflated after their loss to the Titans and will come out flat. Meanwhile Brad Clueless will have a game plan in place to make sure that the Vikings leave their Florida road trip 1 and 1. Win. who cares.

Chiefs +3 vs Bills: Why is Buffalo laying points to the Chiefs on the road in Arrowhead of all places? I cant figure that one out. Trent Edwards has no confidence right now. 80% of the publics money is on the Bills, and remember the theme, Vegas is desperate right now for cash. The Chiefs have lost their last 3 games by an average of 2.7 points, those games were against the Bucs, Chargers and Jets. Thigpen is playing well, while the Chiefs defense is playing well I like the Chiefs spread offense in this one Thigpen will throw because Buffalo should be able to handle the running game of the Chiefs. Loss. Chiefs suck

Lions +8.5 vs. Bucs: The Bucs are 2-7 ATS as road favorites since 2004, they played like crap at Dallas and at KC. Plus the Bucs have 3 consecutive conference games after this date with the hapless Lions. The Bucs have been inconsistent in the red zone all year, plus Lions coach Marinelli coached with the Bucs for years and knows them well as evident by Detroit beating the Bucs in Tampa last year. Despite their blowout loss against a desperate Jags team the Lions have been competitive in every game since Oct. 12th, losing to teams with .500 records or better. Loss. Lions are pathetic and have zero heart, fuck the bucs too.

49ers +10.5 @ Cowboys: That is alot of wood for the Cowboys to be laying. Sean Hill has been playing well under center. The 49ers have been playing well for Singletary, they blew it against the Cardinals in the last minute, but they blew out the Rams last week. Look for the 49ers to come out confident and for Dallas to overlook them. 88% of the publics money is on the 49ers, if that gets closer to 50% by sunday I will go heavy on this game. Romo is 3-10 ATS as a 7 point favorite, (excluding Thanksgiving day 5-10). Remember the 49ers played the Cards tougher than the Cowboys did this year, so that 10. 5 points Im getting makes me feel comfortable. Loss. Singletary needs to be fired, he sux and so does his team.

Raiders +9.5 @ Broncos: Divisonal game, Raiders will be looking for revenge after the blowout earlier this season by the Broncos. Russel and Mcfadden will be back in the line up and I look for Fargas to have a big day against Denver's so-so pass defense. I dont see the Broncos being able to match the Raiders intensity in this one as the Broncos are 2 games up in the standings and have a big date with the jets next week.

Falcons -1 vs Panthers: This is a statement game for the Falcons, the "mighty" Panthers are 8-2, even though Delhomme has not played well as of late, Matt Ryan has played well. The Falcons have to take this game at home to gain credibility and keep up with the pack. The Panthers have a good pass defense so look for Turner to have a big game. I also expect the Atlanta secondary to make some plays and take advantage of Delhomme's propensity to throw pics as of late.

Redskins -3.5 @ Seahawks: This could be a big unit play for me. The Redskins are in a tough spot and need this win bad, and lets not count out the revenge factor from the playoffs last year. Hassleback will be playing, after just having a concussion last week. The Redskins secondary is solid and I dont see Jones doing much running against Washinton. Portis should be starting which will help Campbell go downfield to torch the Seahawks skeleton crew secondary.

Packers +2.5 @ New Orleans: Green Bay likes to cover for me when they are dogs, and makes me pay when I go against them. (Thanks Bears) That being said the Packers are healthy and playing well. Ryan Grant has woke up and is playing well, New Orleans will have no running game in this contest. I look for Rodgers to have a big day as Jennings and Driver will boatrace the Saints terrible secondary.

Thats what I have so far people I have a couple more games to look at and I might make some changes, but The Blanket is not feeling to well today and needs his rest!!

Week 11 NFL picks

Vegas and all sportsbooks across the land were absolutely hammered last week with the NFL slate of action, lets hope vegas has another bad week, becasue when vegas does bad, we do well. As a result of their huge losses last week, they have made the lines extremely difficult. So I have done my best to pick the best games I could here we go:

Falcons -6 vs Broncos: Atlanta is unbeaten at home, and the Falcons defense did a great job containing the Saints powerful offense. In comes the Broncos and Jay Cutler, no doubt Cutler can wing it, but the Broncos have Tatum Bellhop at RB, bye bye rushing game. Denver's defense is not to good, I look for Matt Ryan to have another big day as well as "Marta" ( the fans nickname for Micheal Turner) I can't believe that my beloved Falcons can actually make a playoff appearance this year. Loss. Bye bye money. Well same old Falcons, couldnt score against a beaten up and not good to begin with Broncos defense. Fuck off falcons, you suck.

Bucs -4 vs. Vikings: The Bucs have never covered for me, that being said im due. This is a big game for them. I dont see Frerotte throwing for many yards on the Bucs D and I do not think Peterson can get it done by himself, lets hope the Bucs take this one coming off the bye week. Win. Hello money. About time the Bucs covered for me. Im glad they beat the Vikings.

Titans -3 @ Jags: All the trends in this one point to taking the Jags in this game. But I just dont see it. The two teams hate each other and I dont see this being a let down game for the Titans, Collins proved he could throw against the Bears and the Titans will be able to run the ball against the Jags. The Titans D is great they should take the Jags WR's out of the game, forcing Jax to run the ball, we will see how that works out for them. Win. Hello money. Titans came alive in the 2nd half and the D line was all over Garrard.

Eagles -9 vs Bengals: I m expecting the Eagles to come out firing in this one, lets not forget what they did to Seattle at Qwest field, they played the giants tough and Philly is in desperate need of a win, and on gue here come the lowly Bengals, regardless if Palmer plays or not I dont think the Bengals d can stop Mcnabb and Westbrook. Loss. Bye bye money. A tie? Against the Bengals? yeah, enjoy the NFC East cellar Fagles, your team sucks.

Bears +3.5 @ Packers: Must win game for both teams. Bears played the Titans tough last week with a backup at QB. Ryan Grant will be a non-factor in this game. Matt Forte is a young Brian Westbrook in my eyes, I look for him to have a huge game. I am not sold on Aaron Rodgers, so I like the Bears to keep this one close. Loss. Bye bye money. Too much listening to my battle about Kyle Orton, the bottom line is he sucks and the Bears are fucking garbage.

Weekend Recap of NFL and NCAA action

My friends its no coincidence that I like money. After an unproductive saturday in which I went 2-2 and lost money (thx Pokes and Penn St.) I recovered with an OUTSTANDING sunday on my NFL action, as you can see from my last post I went undefeated in my published picks. In an effort to bring up the bottom line and recover from the last 2 weeks of money loss due to college football I took some action on all three 4'oclock games. I took the Chiefs, Raiders and Steelers, going 1-1-1 on the afternoon games respectively. My only loss on sunday was with the Steelers, so I will make this statement, the Steelers are overrated, I will now refer to them as the Cowboys of the AFC. I have some good news starting this week I will go back to making my own college picks, because my "battle" over at Game Theory has been unable to deliver profits as of late. The bad news is due to my "battles" refusal to say thanks for giving him 5 money making wins, my NFL picks will not be posted until one minute after kickoff on Sunday's sorry folks but sometimes the actions of one affect the bank accounts of many.

Week 9 NCAA Football Action

After an excellent Saturday of money making, Im back with some early picks so you too can nationalize Vegas's bank account!! Myself and Billy Vegas over at the Game theory blog are cooking up some "hello money specials", here is a peek at some of my action so far:

Kansas -2 vs. Texas Tech: The Red Raiders will get a taste of their own medicine on Saturday in Lawrence. Kansas has 2 losses to two solid football teams, both of these losses were on the road. The Jayhawks are still in the hunt for a Big 12 title. Texas Tech has not impressed me, especially on defense, Nebraska found their weakness and almost pulled out the upset in Lubbock. Look for Reesing to have a HUGE day, connecting to Briscoe for touchdowns. This is a HUGE game for Kansas, almost a must win. Jayhawks by 7.

Oklahoma St. +13 @ Texas: Please do not discount the Pokes my friend, this is a solid team and they have played Texas tought the last two years. Both times Texas had to come back from big deficits to pull out the victory. I think Texas wins this game, but 13 is a big number for a Texas team coming off 2 huge games, lets not forget my friends the Pokes put it on Mizzou at home two weeks ago. Hello Money!! Longhorns by 6.

Penn St. -2.5@ Ohio St: to qoute the Sunshine Scooter "not so fast my friends" Penn St has yet to let me down this year and i like money, that being said Ohio St. beat a medicore team in Michigan St and that is about it, Penn St. had a scare put into them by Michigan early but they recovered nicely. Terrell Pryor will be pressured by Penn St's defense and forced to make some bad decisions. Penn St. by 10.

Thats my early preview, I will be back with a couple more picks before gameday, enjoy!!
