President Obama's Inaugaration

I woke up this morning expecting to see a nice ceremony. I have to say I was disapointed. It was disturbing for me to see people celebrating President Obama's African American roots instead of celebrating a new direction and new hope for our country. Lest we forget people that President Obama was raised by his white mother and his white grandmother, however, there was no mention of that. Also, college educated white voters (like myself) put up huge numbers at the polls in support of President Obama. The whole thing left me feeling disenfranchised and questioning my vote, perhaps I should have voted for Senator Mccain. The reverend that spoke the envocation added to my dismay. I get the civil rights deal. I don't want it jammed down my throat all day long, then to add insult to injury I have to listen to Jesse Jackson and Russell Simmons give their two cents. I felt the race card was played too much, at this point in our nations history we should be uniting as one, not bringing up issues from the past.

NFC and AFC championship covers

After going 3-1 (thanks Chargers) last week, I'm looking for 2-0 this week, let's get right to my picks.

Cardinals +4 vs Eagles: I don't see how the Eagles can win this game, Philly likes to win outright when they are dogs but hates covering spreads and winning when they are favored (Redskins, Bengals). I know that the Eagles milk cartoned Arizona on Thanksgiving, but this is a different Cardinals team. Arizona is 7-2 at home this year and have been playing out of their minds in the playoffs, Warner has pass protection, they are running the ball, and they are defending the pass well. The Eagles ground game is in bad shape with Westbrook hurting, so Mcnabb will have to do most of it through the air. I like the Cardinals to win this one outright by 1 to 3 points.

Ravens +6 @ Steelers: Big Ben burned me last week and now he owes me money. The Steelers won the regular season meeting 13-9 on a last minute "touchdown". If Ben throws deep they might be able hurt the Ravens here, as I see the deep ball as their one weakness, but then again Ed Reed could come away with a couple of pics as well. The Chargers put zero pressure on Rothlisberger, something the Ravens will be able to do all game long, let's not forget the Steelers O-line is not the best in the league. Flacco continues to play well, what a steal that guy has become. Flacco has not thrown a pic or been sacked in the playoffs. This game will be tight, but in the end I think they Steelers will fail to pull this one out of their rear end. Ravens win by 1.

I have now seen everything.

While checking my email, I noticed a video on Yahoo! It was about "Joe the Plumber"who has now taken a job with a conservative news site PJTV as a war reporter, he is currently in Isreal reporting about the war with Hamas. "Joe the Plumber" is also advising President Obama on what he should do to support Isreal. Couple things come to mind here. #1. "Joe the Plumber" who the fuck do you think you are? You couldn't even get certified as a fucking plumber, and you are telling President Obama a Harvard Law grad and a Columbia grad, what he needs to do? You fucking piece of shit, you think you are entitled to give your opinion to the president of the U.S about a war? Answer me this "Joe the Plumber" how long were you in Iraq? I didn't see you there, because I was there for 15 months. So since you have never fought in a war and have no education you have no right to say A FUCKING thing, you see "Joe the Plumber" I have both, Degrees and a Combat Patch, you should try one of them sometime. So let me spell this out for you in simple terms, I'll hold your hand like a small fucking child and wipe the drool from your bubbling lips till it sinks through your Mr. Clean skull and absorbs into that very small, very limited brain of yours: People who can't pass plumber tests, that have no college degree and were too scared to serve their country have NO right to tell a President what he should do about Isreal. Since your such a fucking tough guy over in a "war zone" with your shaved head, goatee, limited vocabulary and diminshed capacity IQ of yours, I hope you get shot, cause you are a fucking slug of a human being, why don't you go back to Ohio put your fucking Buckeyes gear on and plunge a pile of shit down a toilet you useless fuck.

2009 Update

I will be tracking my covers for the new year. After the College Bowl Game Season I went 12-2, losing only with Penn St. and Texas ATS. My NFL action has to get better though, so far this year with my NFL action I am 5-3, not my best work.

The Blanket defeats the Disney World Half Marathon

That's right my friends, my first halfy, 13.1 miles. The Blanket made Vegas a ton of money by not covering, the O/U was 2:30, when indeed I finished at 2:47:45, however I did file an appeal with the official scorer, reason being I was one of the last people to start the race due to a last minute urination session and this led to me having to weave through heavy traffic, the attendance of the Disney Halfy was reported at 22,000. My race kicked off at 6:30, I was watching the fireworks show and thinking to myself "Derek get in the car and drive home, you can't do this" But then I thought of the word's of some Polish prick I know and he said "Don't be a faggot and quit" As I crossed the start line I felt good, i had a nice pace, my breathing was good and my body was feeling well. At around mile 8 or 9 I could feel my legs tightening up, I kept going about mile 10.5 or 11ish, my legs got heavy, I slowed down my pace a little to grab a cup of Powerade and could feel my legs saying "Yes!!!! He is coming to a stop shortly" But I still had another 2.1 miles to go and I also knew that if I stopped for even a second I would be done, my legs would not have run anymore, but I don't quit. I came across the finish line like a champion and am pretty proud of my accomplishment. I enjoyed the race, Disney did a great job, they had video screens, DJ's there was a ton of people cheering you on and even a couple high school marching bands, I ran faster when I heard the drums playing because I thought there was a college football game underway!! All in all it was a good time and worth all the training I did for it. However, I am pretty sore right now and my legs HATE me.

BCS Picks & Divisional NFL Playoff Picks= Free money!

Since the 2009 year has begun I started off 8-1 with my NCAA picks, I lost the Penn St game. I was feeling pretty good about myself, then the NFL wildcard playoffs started I went 0-2 on Saturday and 2-0 on Sunday. Thanks to a late Eagles ML bet I dropped I was able to capture my lost money yesterday. I am normally very good on playoff picks, but a 2-2 start won't cut it. This morning I had a visitor at my door, this visitor worked for Fedex and brought me an envelope, inside that envelope was a check from Bodog for an amount 5x my deposit. I sat the check down in a chair and said to it " I look at you and I think.......what can I use ya fah??" The check replied "Well Mr. Blanket I'd like you to squeeze some money out of me!" my reply "Smartmouth..............too bad!!" Without further adue or inferences from "The Departed" here are my picks:

Fiesta Bowl:
Texas -9 vs Ohio St: The sweater vest just cant get it done in the big game, the Big 10 has won only one bowl game thus far and the Buckeyes are facing a pissed off Texas team, who technically can still get a piece of the Naty title. The Longhorns have too much speed for the Buckeyes and I dont think Pryor has enough experience to be competitive against the Longhorns defense. Colt Mccoy is a very accurate passer and loves to run, Muschamps defense will most likely pressure Pryor into poor decisions and if they can stop Wells that will put Pryor in 3rd and long passing downs which I don't see him handling them too well. Loss, bye bye money. There is 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Texas has no chance in this game, they cant stop the run, pressure the QB or move the ball on offense. The Big 12 sucks.

BCS National Championship:
Florida -3 vs Oklahoma: I have seen all I need to see, I was waiting to see how the big 12 power Texas did against Ohio St. So I have not seen a big 12 "power" win a bowl game, or play well for that matter. Oklahoma has no chance in this game and will get fucking destroyed. Bradford will get broken in half, Florida will run over the Sooners non-exsistent defense, the Big 12 blows and they can only beat teams in their own conference. Win, Hello Money. This game was a nice take down for me, Oklahoma hung tough for awhile but Florida won to take 2nd place behind Naty Champs Utah.

NFL Divisional Playoffs:
Ravens +3 @ Titans: I think the 2 weeks the Titans have had off will come back to haunt them in this game, the Titans have a ton of pressure on them in this game and the Ravens just mowed down the Dolphins, Ed Reed has been on fire as of late and Joe Flacco played pretty well against Miami in his first playoff game. If they can stop Johnson and White and then pressure Collins I don't see the Titans scoring much. Either way I like the Ravens here. Look for Mcclain and Mason to have nice games here. Win, Hello Money. I covered the ML on this game too. Flacco played well and the defense came up big.

Cardinals +10 @ Panthers: If the Cardinals team that played Atlanta shows up on Saturday the Panthers could be in trouble, Drew Brees torched their defense as did Eli Manning in the last 2 weeks, Delhomme has been spotty as of late. 10 is a big number here I think. If the Cardinals can stop Stewart and Williams like they did Turner and give Warner time to throw the Panthers could be in trouble, quick. The Cardinals will also have to commit to the running game like they did versus Atlanta to keep the Panthers honest. By the same token the Cardinals better not have a repeat performance like they did against the Patriots, the Cardinals are 0-4 on the east coast this year, but I think they can stay in this one. Win, Hello Money. It's hard to pass up 10 points in a playoff game. What has gotten into Arizona?

Eagles +4 @ Giants: The Eagles won in NY last month and the Giants beat the Eagles at home earlier this year. Without Plaxico Burres, Jim Johnson will be able to commit more to stopping the run, which the Eagles did yesterday in stopping Peterson. Mcnabb and Westbrook will have to play great games to win here, I'm sure the Eagles defense will show up to this game, both teams know each other well so I don't see too many points being scored here, I think the Giants win this game by 2. Win, Hello Money, without Plaxico the Eagles have the Giants number.

Chargers +6 @ Steelers: The Chargers have been playing great football as of late and managed to beat a hot Colts team on Saturday night. 6 points is alot here, lets not forget the Steelers won the earlier meeting this year 11-10. Rothlisberger will be playing but who knows how effective he will be. Rivers and Sproles have been playing great as of late, even without LT I like the Chargers here, their defense was all over Manning Saturday night and the Chargers punter was great at pinning the Colts offense deep several times in that game. Loss, Bye Bye Money. This game ruined my 4 game parlay, luckily I picked up my money with a hedge teaser.

There we have it lets hope for a 4-0 weekend, my account needs the money for my Superbowl action!!
