NCAA Week #14

Here we go, last week to add some respectability to my college record. I am at a 43-41-3 mark right now. I have to at least finish the season in the black. Lets get to the action.

West Virginia +2 I think the wrong team is favored here. West Virginia has been playing and winning some close games against solid teams this year. Bill Stewart finally got a signature win last week against Pitt. This should relieve some of the pressure on the Mountaineers. Their defense played very well against solid teams like Pitt and Cincy. I think Brown and Divine coupled with the WVU defense can get it done on the road against Rutgers.Win.

Cincinatti Bearcats -2 This game boiled down to coaching, I still think of Wandtstedt as the coach who ruined the Bears, but he seemed to find his niche at Pitt. Cincy's Brian Kelly is the hot ticket item this season. Cincy's offense is a machine that will keep churning in this contest, Pitt might slow it down a little with their defense but Stull has been somewhat careless with the ball lately, which keeps me from going the other way in this contest. Should be a well played game but I look for Cincy to pull it out by 4. Loss.

New Mexico State +48 Boise State doesn't even score 48 points a game, they average about 42 a contest so as long as the Aggies can stumble across a touchdown I feel pretty comfortable getting the 48 points here. Boise State should have a BCS game wrapped up, the Oklahoma State loss really helped there cause and I can't see them getting shortchanged for the second year in a row. I say this because I think Boise St will win this game comfortably (21 points) but it won't be a total blowout since they have already proved their point.Win.

Florida -6 Should be an interesting game, Tim Tebow just doesn't lose these types of games. Alabama was unimpressive versus Auburn. Even with Dunlap out I think the Gators are just too much for the Tide to handle. Ingram should be stacked up by the Gators D-line and LB's forcing McCelroy to move the chains himself against a solid Florida secondary. Both coaches are great at their craft, but Florida will also have the refs on their side and who can bet against that?Loss.

UCONN -7 The Huskies have been underrated all year, they have lost all there game by a combined 15 points. USF has to travel to frigid North Hartford for this Saturday night contest. UCONN can become bowl eligible with a win here and will be hungry for that. I don't see how USF can stop Todman and Dixon, UCONN usually runs all over the Bulls year in and year out. Frazier has also proved he can throw the ball and UCONN can put up points. On the other side UCONN's defense is pretty good and should have no problems stopping the Bulls rushing "attack" and bottling up BJ Daniels. I think USF will get blown out in this game. Daniels spends too much time running around in the backfield instead of looking down field to make a play. Claussen had trouble against UCONN's secondary, so how can Daniels do any better? Loss.

Nebraska +14 I have a weird feeling about this game. Nebraska has a solid defense so this should be a low scoring affair. That being said the Huskers offense can be anemic at times. I think Texas wins this game but it will be a close, hard fought game. Texas A&M showed that the Longhorns can be run on so Helu Jr. should have a nice game here taking some of the pressure off Zac Lee. Pelini's squad keeps this one close. Win.

Season Record 46-44-1 (I am done with college football)
There you have it, hopefully I can end the College football season on a high note.

NFL Week #13 The Early Bird Specials

Here are some early plays as The Blanket will be out of town until late Thursday and I don't want to get behind in my handicapping. The Blanket has been hovering around 58% on action in November and the hate mail is starting to hit my Yahoo account. Lets not forget that I am 61-31-1 in NFL action against the spread. I had an off November but now its time for my late season surge. Just collected on 2 unit play on the Saints game and its time to do some reinvesting!!

LATE PICKS ADDED********Patroits @ Miami also ML Dogs are posted.

Bills +3 Hmmm is Coach Fewell onto something here? Running Fred Jackson? Fitzpatrick throwing deep? The Bills made me pay on Sunday, so hopefully they will be generous to me this Sunday. I like to take the Bills on the road, and technically they will be the home team in this contest versus the Jets in Toronto. I am thinking this team is getting behind Coach Fewell who was a Bears assistant but, he knew how to coach so the Bears sent him packing, they can't have that in Chicago. Terrell Owens should be happy now that balls are heading his way and Fred Jackson has replaced degenerate Marshawn Lynch effectively. The Bills are solid against the pass and middle of the road versus the run. Delhomme gift wrapped that game for the Jets last week as NY managed 13 points off 4 picks thrown by Jake, he is awful and the Panthers are done. Sanchez had a knee problem in last weeks game so who knows how effective he will be in this contest. Looks like the Bills are believing in themselves again. 3 units.Loss.

Broncos -4 Huge bounce back game for the Broncos on Thanksgiving night. Denver is now 7-4 and in possession of a wildcard spot. Orton had a good game against the Giants, who have a much better pass rush than the Chiefs. The home team has won 14 of 16 in this series, but the Chiefs are terrible and they embarrassed me as they got blown out last week against San Diego. Some might think the Broncos will sleepwalk through this contest, I don't the Broncos need an easy win against a garbage team like KC to bolster their playoff hopes and McDaniels should have them ready to build upon the beating they put on the Giants. The Broncos really need this game as they have a showdown with the Colts looming. 2 units.Win.

Texans Pick The Texans season is over as far as the playoffs are concerned, so why not ruin the Jags season while they are at it? The Jags are clinging to wildcard hopes and the Texans will extinguish that flame here. Jacksonville, much like the Eagles are a team that tends to get up off the floor when everyone is down on them, but I think the Texans will step on their throats here. The Texans got caught celebrating what they thought was a win a little to early. Garrard while having a solid year has had a real problem with fumbling the football thanks to his pedestrian offensive line. The Texans have improved against the run, but the numbers are skewed a little bit since they have played to Colts pass happy offense twice in recent games. MJD hasn't had a big game in a while, Sims-Walker was ineffective against the 49ers secondary so I do not see it getting better with Dunta Robinson covering him. Schaub has alot of weapons in the passing game and the Jags secondary is depleted, I like the Texans here. 2 units. Loss.

Cowboys Pick It's December will Tony Romo have another meltdown? I don't see it happening. The distractions for Romo have been dealt with and he seems to be moving on, so I think he will reverse that trend. This is a revenge game for them against the reeling Giants who have been really disappointing so far this year after starting so well. Romo torched a solid Raiders secondary with ease and the Giants are still hurting for help in the secondary Jones and Williams should carry over their success from last week. The Cowboys running attack has been getting healthy while Bradshaw is still banged up for the Giants. The Cowboys need this game to get some separation on the Giants and can't afford to get swept, the Cowboys also need to stay up on the Eagles who should win with ease this week against the Falcons. 2 units.Loss.

49ers Pick Revenge game for the 49ers as they travel to Qwest field. The 49ers have lost some games but have been in all of them Alex Smith and Crabtree look good and TE Vernon Davis is really emerging as a solid option. The 49ers are still in the hunt for the NFC West and can't afford to drop a conference game to Seattle who is dead in the water. The Seahawks just want this disaster season to be over with and I can't see them getting up for this game against a 49ers team coming off a solid performance against the Jags. 3 units.Loss.

Eagles -5 Mike Vick back in Atanta..........who cares, he only has 6 more passing yards then me this season. The Falcons couldn't win this game with Ryan starting. Historically the Eagles own the Falcons and I see that trend continuing here. Redman holds onto the ball way to long and with Sam Baker getting benched Trent Cole might spend more time in the Falcons backfield then Norwood and Snelling combined. Samuels should be back for this game and he will take Roddy White out of this contest, Jackson is still undecided for this game, I personally do not think he will play and have replaced him with Jason Avant in my fantasy league, but Philly still has alot of weapons that the Falcons abysmal secondary will not be able to contain. This game could get ugly, unless I am missing something here I am going to make this a big play. Atlanta has been decent against the run but Philly and Andy Reid hate running the ball and are a prolific screen team which will rack up huge yardage against the Falcons. 5 units.Win.

Chargers -13 The Browns lost Shaun Rogers for the season with an Achilles. The Browns simply can't run or throw the ball. They covered for me last week but the Bengals simply can't put points up in bunches so that was an easy play. The Chargers are rolling right now, with a 6 game winning streak I don't think they will slow down here. Thanks to Cassell I lost on my Chiefs pick last week and was embarrassed as Cassell put the ball on the ground and threw pics. I have learned my lesson. I think the Chargers are good for 24 points in this game, the Browns maybe 6-7 points. Without Rogers rushing the passer Rivers will have plenty of time to pick the Browns secondary apart, the Browns should find themselves in an early hole which will mean Quinn will be forced to throw alot. That will be good news for us. 4 units. Loss.

Vikings -3 Looks like Warner will be back for this game. Could the Cards be seeking revenge for last years behind the Woodshed beating they took by the Vikings last year?? Remember who the QB was for that game, I do not think he is as good as Favre do you? The Vikings are going to continue to win as they try to chase the Saints down so they can get home field advantage and the Cards have been iffy at home. I question Wisenhut's call on letting Warner start against the Vikings defense especially with Gandy out and Allen coming after him. I'm about of a Warner honk and would like to see him come back for 2010 to improve his numbers for his HOF bid. I just think for this game that the Vikings just have too many weapons for Arizona and Favre has been lights out this year. 3 units.

Titans +7 The Colts do not care about going 16-0. One of their players recently said "records don't win rings". Very true. VY just doesn't lose games. Chris Johnson although not as fast as Rajon Rondo (hahahahahaha) is a machine right now and I think the improved play of the Titans secondary coupled with their offense lets them win this game by 3 points. I will also be making a small play on the Titans ML as well. 1 unit.Loss.

Rams +9lger was playing I would make this game a multi-unit play. The Bears will not be able to get up for the Rams after getting boatraced by the Vikings and Steven Jackson will be able to keep the Rams in this game. The Bears are really struggling on both sides of the ball. Kyle Boller had a decent game passing last week against Seattle. I just have a feeling the Bears are in a bad spot and their season is over so the Rams could be getting their second win here. 1 unit.Win.

Patriots -4 This line came out for like a half an hour at -6, now it has re posted at -4. Smells bad. I was thinking about making a nice size play on it, but now I don't trust it. Especially with all the money landing on the Patriots. There was a trend on Miami vs New England and now I cannot find it, so we will have to go with the trend that the Patriots never lose two games in a row. Miami has really been taking chunks out of my account and I am not pleased with them. Miami usually plays New England tough, but I think Brady is fuming right now and the Dolphins will not be able to stop Welker and Moss. Joey Porter is also out for this game. 3 units.Loss.

NFL Week #12 Free Money Report

Not the best of Sundays last week, I went 7-6 but hit most of my multi-unit plays. I guess Vegas isn't giving out their usual pre black Friday freebies. I guess the economy is even affecting the 7 guys that generate these lines. The only comfortable cover I had was the Vikings pounding the Seahawks, everything else was alot of sighing and refresh button. That's OK, Vegas can only satisfy me with nickel and dime positive units for so long. I need one of my patented monster weeks to send them a message that I don't appreciate them forsaking all of us degenerate gamblers who look forward to our late November handouts. Remember Vegas, easy way or hard way, either way I take your money. Write it down. Without further delay here are my NFL picks for this week:

Giants -7 (Thanksgiving Special) The Broncos are gassed, their veteran defense is beat up and Kyle Orton's ankle is in a bad way, much like Denver will be here. The Giants got a much needed win over a Falcons squad that isn't very good. Eli gained some much needed confidence as he torched Atlanta's abysmal secondary throwing to his vast array of talented WR's (must be nice to have a vast array of talented WR's and not have say.............Micheal "Hands of Stone" Jenkins). I don't think the Broncos will have much success running the ball in this contest which will force Orton to move the chains on his own, which on a bum ankle I think that might be a risky proposition, but when Chris Simms is your back-up I would rather roll Orton out in a wheel chair than rely on Simms to convert third downs. The Giants should be able to pound the ball and Eli will have time to throw as the Broncos cracks on D are starting to show. 2 units.Loss.

***********************PICK CHANGE ALERT, TAKING TEXANS +4********************
Texans +4 Funny the Texans were 9 point dogs 2 weeks ago. The Texans can't beat the Colts (1-14 all time and they are now 4-12 versus the Titans). The Texans also had a huge letdown on their Monday night game, which I profited from! The Colts survived a dust-up with the Ravens and Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis did nothing in that game because they were shut down by Gaither and Oher. So they should have their ears pinned back and be coming after Schaub with reckless abandon. This should be a tight game, 1 more point on this spread and I would have taken the Texans. I just think this is a bad spot for them here. Texans are 1-3-1 ATS at home this year, but 5-1 ATS versus the colts in their last 6, meanwhile the Colts are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. I think that the Colts will change some things up for this game given the proximity of their last game. I also have to question both teams ability to run the ball, Addai needs to get it going here, Donald Brown should be good to go for this game too, lets hope he chips in as well. 1 unit.Loss.

Browns +14 The Bengals have no business laying 14 points to anyone, they just got waxed by Gradkowski and the Raiders, how embarrassing. Take away the beat down of the Bears and the Bengals haven't won by 14 all year, that includes a 3 point win against the Browns in Week #4 and losing to the Raiders doesn't tell me you have improved. It is also a divisional rivalry game between two teams that know and hate each other. Don't expect Brady Quinn to go berserk again and throw the ball all over the field as the Lions have an atrocious pass defense, Quinn will be scared to throw on Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall so he will most likely revert to his short junk. I was not pleased with the Browns defense last week, it's like the offense and defense both did 180's last week, lets hope the usual Browns defense shows up for this game. 3 units Win.

Redskins +10 Eagles as big favorites? Injuries to Westbrook? Hanson out? Samuels and Sheldon Brown hurt? Andy Reid as coach? Hello Money!! The Redskins have been playing a little better since the arrival of the Bingo caller extraordinaire. Campbell has been putting up solid numbers and hasn't turned the ball over. Washington has a solid defense and will be able to handle Jackson and Maclin with their pass coverage as well as Celek. Cartwright gets the start and their should be no drop-off at the RB position for the Skins as he is a good pass catcher out of the backfield. Randle-El and Moss will get the short passes as the Redskins move the ball. Philly will win this game but 10 points for a team with alot of injuries against a division foe is way too much to ask. 5 units.Win.

Dolphins -3 Miami really surprised me last week as they boat raced the Panthers sans Ronnie Brown, good for them and bad for my account as I took a large beating off that game. That's OK because the Dolphins will pay me back this week. I expected the Bills to get blown out last week with Jauron hitting the bricks, but Fewell had them in that contest against a lazy Jacksonville team. Buffalo is another team that has been decimated by injuries, Fitzpatrick had a good game last week but the Jags pass rush is nothing to write home about. Taylor and Porter will be getting after him here. The Bills running game is also non-existent as Lynch is garbage but they continue to go to him. Miami is stout against the rush so Jackson won't be able to do much either. Henne had success against a solid Panthers secondary and that should carry over to this contest. Lets hope Ricky has another career day here. 3 units.Loss.

Seahawks -3 If Bulger was starting this game I would be taking the Rams, but instead we will have Kyle Boller. I will pause while you look at Boller's stats....................................Impressive no? Seattle is a desperate team Burleson and TJ haven't caught a ball in a while, Forsett should have a big game as I foresee the Rams defense sending lots of time on the field due to Boller's ineptness. Hasselbeck should have a quality day as the Rams are awful against the pass. As long as Steven Jackson doesn't run wild we should win this one going away. 2 units.Win.

Panthers +3 John Fox needs to run the ball with Williams and Stewart, use your weapons John and run at the Jenkins-less Jets. Smith will be taken out of this game by Revis, so Delhomme will have to settle for some short passes. If the Panthers use the running game effectively they should be able to move the chains. Sanchez will have no shot against a solid secondary like the Panthers have. Carolina is better against the rush than the Patriots so they should have success in stopping Jones and Greene. The Jets are done and will probably be flat after hanging around in the Pats game only to see it slip away. Carolina on the other hand needs a win to keep Wildcard hopes alive. 2 units.Loss.

49ers -3 The Jags are a lazy team and Del Rio must have went to the Norv Turner/ Ron Turner school of game planning. Rashean Mathis is out for this game and Jacksonville's pass defense is awful, Crabtree and Davis should have nice days. Smith has some problems with protection but the Jags don't like sacking the QB anyway so it won't matter. The 49ers run defense has been spotty lately but I think it is a result of their secondary getting beat worse than Jimmy Claussen in a bar fight. Hopefully they can hold MJD down and force Garrard to throw on them, but knowing Del Rio he probably won't even start MJD and say it was his "strategy". 3 units.Win.

Chiefs +14 KC is 5-1 ATS in its last 6, 7-3 ATS last 10 on the road. They were blown out by the Chargers a few weeks ago but I think that was a fluke. Cassell likes to score late touchdowns to cover and apparently not having Bowe didn't faze him as he torched the Steelers secondary last week. These two teams hate each other and the Chiefs got rid of homophobic LJ and gave the ball to Jamaal Charles, who will have success against the Chargers injury ridden front. Chambers will be looking to burn his former employers as well. The Chargers secondary has been patchwork this season as well, so Lance Long will probably do his best Wes Welker imitation and get in the mix as well. 1 unit.Loss.

Saints -3 It pains me to write that but sometimes you have to face the facts. The public is all over the Patriots and I would be to, however; the Saints get Sedrick Ellis back as well as Jabarri Greer this week. New England will not be able to run the ball. This will force Brady to do it all and Moss will be taken out of the game by Greer. So now the Saints will have to focus on Faulk and Welker. I just don't trust the Pats defense to stop Brees, he just has too many weapons and Bush will be back for this contest as well. 2 units.Win.

Vikings -11 This game could get ugly quick. The Bears are a train wreck, Forte will have no running lanes and the Bears WR's lack the experience to go against a solid secondary with Jared Allen chasing after Cutler. Antoine Winfield will be back for this game and looking to catch some passes thrown by Jay Cutler. This game could be the swan song for Lovie as his days are already numbered. Maybe the Bears should try Charles Tillman at WR, without him the Bears would probably be 0-10. 2 units.Win.

Season Record 61-31-1
There we have it 11 games for Sunday I might add one or two more games but we will see I wasn't really that high on any of these spreads this Sunday as you can tell by the absence of 4 and 5 unit plays ( well I do have one 5 unit play ). Lets hope for a nice Sunday cash flow to offset the Black Friday spending, see you at the cash cage.

NCAA Week #13 Stuffing of my pockets................

Slim action on the college slate this Friday and Saturday, I am going to struggle to find my 5 games to pick. Here is what I have so far, let's hope this Saturday follows suit with last. Also, don't forget to sign up for the Yahoo! Bowl Pick 'em Challenge (Team name is "Potassium Exporters" and Group ID is 1292) This is your chance to compete head to head with such handicappers as myself and Billy Vegas, currently there are only 6 people in the league, lets work on that, unless you are scared of course.

Temple -3 The Owls have been playing some solid defense all year long and their offense has been able to put up points. I like to side with teams with good defenses. Ohio has been winning some close games, but I think Temple will be too much for them to handle. Temple's D creates turnovers and Ohio's offense won't be able to overcome that if they put the ball on the turf.Loss.

UCF -3 UAB is a dumpster fire and UCF is on a late season roll. The Knights are another team that seems to crank out a solid defense year in and year out as well as finding running backs that hate being tackled. Brynn Harvey shouldn't have any problems running against the Blazers. The Knights are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games, while UAB is 5-1 at home ATS, but the Blazers are also 1-5 versus UCF SU and I think that the Knights are 3 points better than them. Big game for UCF here as they are looking to move up and get into a good bowl game and still have a shot at the C-USA title. Win.

PITT Pk The Backyard Brawl is in Morgantown this year, won't matter due to the proximity of these two schools and Pitt fans travel well. I think the running and aerial attack of the Panthers will be too much for the Mountaineers to handle. For Pitt this is a must have game as they look ahead to their showdown with the Bearcats for what will be the Big East title. Noel Devine and Jarret Brown are still bothered by ankle problems. WVU has played some close games this year but I just think they lack the play makers to get it done here. Dion Lewis and Bill Stull should have a good day for us.Loss.

Navy -10 Navy travels to Hawaii this weekend to take on the Warriors in what looks to be a beat down in the making. Hawaii has had massive injuries at the QB position this season and are starting their 4th string QB. Normally teams go to Hawaii and forget how to play football, this will not be the case for Navy as they travel all over to play. I don't see the Warriors defense slowing down the slow moving triple option. With a 4 string QB and the option eating up clock and keeping Hawaii's offense off the field I don't know how they will stay in this game. Loss.

LSU -3 Eh, why not? LSU should be fired up for this game after they forget how to run plays in the 4th quarter last week. Miles will be looking to make a statement to those questioning his coaching skills. LSU has a good defense especially in Death Valley and its a night game. Mallet is a great QB for the Hogs but that and WR Josh Childs are two of the few weapons they have. Mallet struggles against SEC defenses and Arkansas does not have the defense to withstand the Tiger attack.Push.

There you have it, my 5 picks as promised. I might stop by and add some late action to spice up the holiday a little, so be on the lookout for extra games.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$BLACK FRIDAY EXTRA PICKS$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Illionois +21 Bearcats will win this contest, but I expect the Illini to come out fighting for Coach Zooks job. 21 is a big number especially with the Big East title showdown with PITT looming next week. Cincy has a young defense and these two teams do not know each other, look for Illinois to hang around in this contest. Win.

Eastern Michigan +17 Why are the Akron Zips laying 17 points? Is this a soccer game? Last time I checked the Zips were 2-9. While Eastern Michigan is a dumpster fire as well they can score points (Arkansas game) I think the Eagles can hang with them.Win.

Weekend Recap NCAA Week 12 & NFL Week 11

First lets start out by letting the readers know that it is once again time for Yahoo! College Bowl Pick 'em. For those of you who would like to compete against The Blanket during the bowl season feel free to join, it is a public league on Yahoo! under the name "Potassium Exporters" (Group ID #1292). I will see you there! Anyone dare try and take my trophy from me??! Now on to the details of this weekend. I had a decent Saturday, I went 7-3 on posted action, then I had a late trigger pull on Oregon St & Oregon ML, both wins. 9-3 for my Saturday, I'll take it. However, I am not happy that I passed on UCF -21 and UNC +4, I knew I should have taken those games. I used the reverse psychology trend to snap me out of my funk, maybe it worked or maybe the teams I played on just did what they were supposed to do. I would also like to talk about how much Ohio St stinks, not only did you fail to cover the 12 against Michigan, you couldn't even score against them, truly pathetic. Forcier gave you 7 points, 4 interceptions and all you could muster against them was 21 points? What a joke. Good luck bringing that rag tag act into the Colosseum against the Ducks. What else..................Oh yeah...........bye bye coach Front Butt, I wasn't surprised to see ND go down at all. I called it matter 'o fact. I guess I fail to see the lure of ND, OK they were awesome when dinosaurs roamed the earth, who cares now. Claussen is an over-rated ESPN darling who will suffer the same fate as Quinn, sorry but Claussen is neither accurate or crisp with his throws. I also hope Tebow enjoys his 5th round selection, if he goes that high I might be surprised to tell you the truth. Why doesn't Zac Robinson get any credit? Oh that's right his coach isn't Urban Meyer or Front Butt. Well on to the NFL, where I struggled mightily I went .500 with the Titans +5 tonight. Disgusting. I took a beating yesterday in the 4PM games as well. However, after getting very frustrated and collecting my winnings of the Chargers cover I took all the money in my account and divided it by 3, put 1/3 on the Eagles -3, another 1/3 on the Eagles ML @ -170, and the last 1/3 on the Prop Bet Alternate line that had the Eagles +3.5 at -200. Me Likey!!!! Now my account is back up to acceptable levels at 30 units (that's my fighting weight). The Steelers crapped their pants and ruined my Sweetheart teaser I had them +2, thanks alot. Steelers have no business going to the playoffs and I hope they fail to make it, with that "vaunted Dick Lebaeu defense" the lowly Chiefs should not be throwing the ball all over the yard on you, unacceptable. Maybe you guys might wanna take each game seriously, nobody gives a crap that you are the Steelers and they are going to lay down for you. Keep it up and at the end of the season I call up Mike Tomlin and say "Losses, How many Yinz got??" Funsticks. I still have no idea who will be playing the Vikings in the Superbowl this year, I thought maybe the Bengals, but they proved last night they are a fraud. Could you imagine a Superbowl between the Bengals and the Saints, holy crap, talk about two annoying fan bases. How many times would the English language be butchered with "Who Dey?" and "Who Dat?". I'm not sold on the Colts, teams are catching on the Manning. Anyone for the Ravens or Patriots coming out of the AFC to play Favre in Miami? Oh yeah, before I go any feedback on my posting of the prop bets/ live dogs/sweetheart teasers? Love it? Hate it? What is he talking about? I will keep posting it on Sunday mornings and keep it up until the end of the 4 o'clock games. It's some what of an eye sore so I take it down, For those of you concerned with how I did, I lost my Sweetheart Teaser by 1 point (Thanks Steelers) I won 2 of the three prop bets and lost on 1 live dog (Browns).

NFL Week #11 Free Money Report

Need some money, Vegas tends to give out some freebies the week before Black Friday, maybe they will be generous considering they restocked their vaults with our money last weekend. The Blanket is not above taking handouts folks, cash is cash. Lets see what we have.

Panthers -3 Panthers have covered 4 of their last 5, however only 1 of those has been at home. I like going with the home team on these week night games. Ronnie Brown is out for the Dolphins, so its bye bye Wildcat and now Henne has to go against one of the leagues best secondaries on the road on a short week. Peppers has been great so far this year and should give Miami plenty of problems. John Beason is also a force at his LB position. Miami has a good run stop unit, but Williams and Stewart have been on a tear as of late. The Panthers seem to be a team on a mission as of late and they will be tied for second in the NFC South at the end of Sunday because the Falcons will lose to the Giants. Why you ask? Because the Falcons suck, that's why. Delhomme has been playing decent as well lately too and Miami will have to rely on a rookie corner to cover Steve Smith, doesn't sound like too much fun. 5 units. Loss. (Awesome!!)

Browns +4 Yup, I just wrote that. I will recall a recent conversation I had with Billy Vegas. He was unhappy with the Bears offense having trouble scoring on the Browns as they had to settle for several field goals in the early going. The Browns have a great defense, the problem is their offense is so bad they are on the field way too much. The Lions are punch less on defense, ranking near the bottom against the run and the pass. Stafford is still not 100% and the Browns gave the Ravens all kinds of problems on Monday night. The Ravens got only 9 points against the Browns D Monday night (not including the pick 6). Quinn threw 2 picks Monday night and will continue to throw the short crap, bubble screens, jailbreak screens, smoke screens, slip screens, starscream (j/k he is a decepticon). Lewis and company should have success on the ground here so Quinns 5 yard passes will be enough to move the chains here. I just don't think the Lions should be laying points to anyone. The Lions could also come out flat as they put alot into the Vikings game last week, it will be difficult for them to show up for the Browns. 2 units.Win.

Jags -9 The only reason I am taking this game is because the Bills fired Dick Jauron, mid-week. Not good. The Bills will be confused as everyone scrambles to learn their new jobs and come up with a game plan. Owens is doing his usual woe is me routine, and the Bills also have have a QB controversy. Furthermore the Bills cannot stop the run, just ask Chris Johnson. MJD will have a massive day and will have no problems running wild. The Jags are looking to keep pace with the Texans for a possible wildcard berth. The Jags hate covering but that is what the trends say, I am fading trends this week and going with my gut. I am making a small play on this game because I feel the 9 points is a bit much. 1 unit. Loss.

Colts Pick This looks to be the free gift from Vegas I was talking about. Manning seems to have figured it out as he was not sharp against the last three teams he has faced. Sad fact is that the Colts own the Ravens. The Ravens have some injuries on defense and I don't like their beleaguered secondary to stop Manning either. Freeney and Mathis will be neutralized in this game as Gaither and Oher are outstanding tackles, but Flacco is not Tom Brady. Ray Rice should be productive here. The Colts have a very talented secondary and should be able to handle Baltimore's WR's with little problems. So it boils down to Manning versus the Ravens CB's and Safeties and Ray Rice versus the Colts D-line and LB's. T Sizzle is out for this game thanks to Brady Quinn taking a cheap shot on him. I also think that Trevor Pryce is a little banged up for this contest. 5 units. Win.

Steelers -10 I expect a pissed off Steelers squad to show up in this game. The Steelers really need this game to stay in the Wildcard fight as it looks like they will be unable to catch the Bengals after a season sweep. The Steelers also have the Ravens nipping at their heels. The Chiefs lost Dwanye Bowe for 4 games, ouch. Chambers is too old and Lance Long is not the Wes Welker people are trying to make him into. Cassell will struggle in this game, the Steelers cannot be run on so Jamaal Charles will have a tough day on the ground. The Steelers have not been covering this year but as I said before they really need this game and should not be messing around with the lowly Chiefs. Rothlisberger has too many weapons for KC to account for, if only Matt Cassell had that problem. Troy Polamalu should be playing in this game, lets hope their secondary makes some plays. 2 units. Loss.

Vikings -11 I expect the Seahawks will just mail this one in as their season is all but over. Forsett will not be able to run against the Williams Wall and Winfield will be back for the Vikings so Burleson might go another game without making a catch. The Seahawks run stop has been doing anything but that, now they have to face the premier back in the NFL. Peterson should have a huge day here. Matt Hassellbeck has no pass protection even with Locklear returning the Cards got to him several times. How do you think Jared Allen will fare? Good? How do you think our accounts will fare? Even better! 3 units.Win.

Redskins +11 Cowboys looked like dogshit last week, and could be doubting themselves here. The Redskins took apart a Broncos team that is coming back down to earth. Romo has no help, Williams is garbage and Austin will be covered tightly as the Redskins have a solid secondary. Who does that leave? Crayton? hahahahah!! Maybe Whitten. Barber is still banged up and Romo has protection problems with Columbo going down with a broken fibula. Mike Jenkins and Ken Hamlin also got nicked up last week so they could be iffy. Haynesworth is also iffy for this game. I am siding with the Redskins here due to the fact that this division game and is usually tightly contested. 1 unit.Win.

Buccaneers +11 The Saints have some injuries piling up, they should show here as Bulger had a solid day against them last week. If Freeman can protect the football this game could end up being very close. The Bucs and Saints flat out do not care for one another. The Saints secondary is really banged Sharper and Greer are among them and Brees has not exactly been lighting it up lately either. Freeman at home should be able to keep the Bucs close, they are a dangerous team right now and will fight the whole game. 1 unit.Loss.

Cardinals -9 Looks like future HOF'er Kurt Warner is getting healthy, he has been looking alot better as of late and could be benefiting from a run game that has vastly improved. The Cardinals run stop unit has been taking on water as of late so they really need to concentrate on stopping Steven Jackson, who just refuses to lay down and quit. If they load the box for Jackson the secondary for the Cards is good enough to shut down the passing game. Rodgers-Cromartie held Burelson to zero catches last Sunday, good times. The Cards have a tendency to beat up on the Rams, and it should continue here. I don't think Kurt Warner is yet satisfied with pummeling the team that left him for dead. 3 units.Loss.

Jets +11 If the Pats played anyone else but the Colts prior to this game I would take them as The Hoodie and Brady never lose two games in a row. The Pats tend to shit their pants after playing the Colts. The Jets desperately need this game and should keep it close, but will fall short in the end. The Pats D is suspect right now and the Hoodie knows it. The Jets will focus on slowing down Moss and Welker in this contest as the Pats have not had much of a running game to speak of lately. 1 unit. Loss.

Bengals -10 Any doubters left on the Bengals? Didn't think so. Russel Un-athletic has been benched in favor of Charlie Frye, good luck with that against the Bengals bracket coverage. Cincy will be without Benson for a while, this resulted in them signing shit bag Larry Johnson. The Raiders will have no success running the ball as Al Davis refuses to use Bush and Fargas, opting to go with 1st round bust Mcfadden. Good luck with that. Palmer has struggled throwing the ball sans the Bears contest, but I think turnovers will show here for the Raiders and the Bengals will capitalize on them. 1 unit.Loss.

Chargers -6 No spread on this game due to Kyle Orton's ankle problems. Why is Chris Simms employed? He is garbage I think he completed 3 passes for 11 yards in the ass beating they took at the hands of the Redskins. The Broncos are gassed and are beginning their much anticipated free fall. Phillip Rivers is unstoppable and LT actually had some running lanes last week and had two rushing touchdowns and 97 yards. Rivers should have another big day here as the wheels have come off Denver's bandwagon. 3 units.Win.

Eagles -3 How is Andy Reid still employed? RUN THE BALL!!!!! It's not that difficult. The Eagles are missing Westbrook who had yet another concussion, sad for him as he has been a quality player for years. Mcnabb has young studs Celek, McCoy, Maclan, and Jackson. How are the Bears going to possibly cover them? The offensive line for the Bears is garbage as is the play calling. Cutler has no WR's to throw to, Olsen is his only consistent option. I don't trust Cutler against the Eagles secondary, Samuels and Brown are notorious route jumpers and will be gambling against an inexperienced WR corps looking to intercept the risk taking Cutler. The Bears won't have much success running against the Eagles and conversely the Bears have no pass rush to speak of, this gives McNabb plenty of time to throw the ball 80 times in this contest. 3 units.Win.

Titans +5 This should be an exciting Monday night game. Two young teams on the rise. The Texans are a solid team but I am not sure if they are ready to be laying 5 points in this spot. Chris Johnson is unstoppable and the Texans are middle of the pack against the run. The Texans have no running game to speak of and that will force Schaub to throw the ball to move the chains and he is missing Owen Daniels his favorite target. The Titans have bolstered their secondary with the insertion of Rod Hood. The Texans on the other hand have a pedestrian secondary and VY will not be hesitant to throw against them. Add that up with his ability to scramble and Chris Johnson racking up yardage. I like the 5 points here. 5 units.Win.

Season Record 55-26-1
There you go a record high 14 games from the Blanket, I am still looking to get the rest of my cash back from Vegas and this is the week to do it! Pass go and collect more than $200!!

NCAA Week #12 Give-my-$$$$$-awayathon

I got my ass kicked again on Saturday, so I will be nickle and diming my college picks from now on; or at least until I string some covers together. Lets recap last weekends total losses. I got destroyed on college games, went 5-4 on my NFL picks, lost my fantasy football match up, got eliminated from my Survivor League, fell to the 98th percentile in my Pro Pick 'em league and 88th percentile in my College ATS Pick 'em league, good stuff..........I like!! I have to stop trying to out think the room. That being said here is my latest attempt to go 0-5 in the Pick 'em Challenge, along with a couple bonus games that I will fail to cover:

Boise St -23 I like to get one loss in during the week, that way I am assured that I will continue to lose money come Saturday. The Aggies are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games versus the Broncos, which means they will cover this game easily. The Broncos average margin of victory over Utah St. is 37.5 points over the last 4 contests, further proof that the Aggies will cover. The Broncos need a huge win here to keep pace with TCU and Cincy who each have a leg up on Boise in the BCS standings. The Broncos easily dispatched with the Vandals last week and have a showdown with the Pomeranian Pack next week which will be their toughest opponent since Oregon, further evidence that Boise St won't cover here.Win.

TCU -31 I don't like laying alot of points, but apparently I like to give my money away to Vegas on Saturday afternoons and evenings. TCU hammered the Cowboys last year and they are also looking to keep up with the pack for a BCS berth. Andy Dalton has transformed from a game manager to a solid QB. Wyoming has struggled to score points at times, so seeing as how I am taking the Horned Frogs here, the Cowboys should light up the scoreboard and cover easily. In all honesty I do not see how the Cowboys will be able to score more than 7 points here. They were shutout by Air Force no to long ago, as well as blown out by BYU 2 weeks ago. TCU is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road tilts while the Cowboys are 6-1 ATS in there last 7 games, further proof that I will also lose this game.Win.

Rutgers -8 Rutgers is starting their usual late season surge, hey Jim Leavitt you should try that sometime. The Scarlett Knights have lost to 2 top 10 teams, Cincy and Pitt. Syracuse is losing players faster than my Bodog account is losing money. Rutgers destroyed USF on naty TV, much to my embarrassment. Paulus is alot like BJ Daniels, both point guards and both like to scramble around for 30 seconds and then throw a pass for negative yardage, get sacked, fumble or throw a pick. Rutgers should take advantage of this situation and destroy the Orange in the Carrier Dome. With Syracuse's lack of players I don't see how they can stay in this game versus a Rutgers team that believes in themselves.Loss.

Stanford -7 The Cardinal are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games, which means they should fail to cover this game. Harbaugh's bunch has been quite impressive and covered for me last week as they destroyed USC, this was surprising as I though they might be a little flat coming off a victory against Orgeon. Andrew Luck will be the best QB in the Pac-10 for the remainder of his time there. Nobody has had success stopping Toby Gearhart, so with both the passing and running game looking solid Stanford should have no problem covering the 7 against a Jahvid Best-less Cal team.Loss.

Nevada -30 I would like to finish this Saturday out with a solid 0-5 mark, so i will be taking the Pomeranian Pack to shit their pants against the powerhouse New Mexico State. Nevada has seemed to figure out its offense and they have cost me money twice this year, I look for that trend to continue. The Aggies love getting blown out and I love giving my money to Vegas apparently so I look for New Mexico State to cover this game easily so I can wire transfer some more cash over to Bodog. Win.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Extra Money Picks:

UCONN +7 Zach Frazier heads back to South Bend with a chip on his shoulder, let's hope the chip doesn't tell him to throw any interceptions. UCONN's O-line will dominate ND up front as they are all the same size as coach Front Butt. UCONN is a pesky team with a solid running attack and two weeks of prep time. What better game for the Huskies and Edsel to win and dedicate to their fallen teammate Jasper Howard then a win at ND? The only suspect area on UCONN is their secondary, lets hope they use the running game to eat clock. Win.

Ohio State -12 You won't cover this game Jim Tressel, you point shaving, sweater vest wearing shitbag. Your team can't score, even against Michigan. Prove me wrong, you won't. Michigan has no defense, if you put their defense with the USF offense they would make the worst team in D-1 football. The Wolverines top rusher is out and I don't think Forcier can keep it close by himself. Loss.

Penn St -3 Joe Pa loves to win games that no one is talking about, this is one of them. Sparty is having a down year and lost to Notre Dame which shamed me. Michigan State is having problems on offense, I think Penn State might be too much for them to handle. You may notice that the Blanket always wears a Michigan State hat (and sometimes covers........) I am not an Alumni..........yet........I am too embarrassed to wear USF gear in Tampa, which is a town overrun with Gator and Seminole fans. The Blanket was supposed to be going to Law School at MSU but thanks to the economy I don't have the money..............soon enough me friends.........soon enough.
Win.

USF -11 Speaking of embarrassment, here come my Bulls right on cue. L'ville struggles to win in Tampa, even when they were good............this year they are not good. After a barn-burning 10-9 victory against Syracuse, but the Cards have major problems, the Bulls cannot lose this game or Leavitt could be kicking rocks.............not that its a bad thing. Bulls should squeak out the 11 point spread. Win.

LSU+4 Ole Miss crushed LSU last year, but they are not as good this year. I don't quite understand why the #9 team in the country is a 4 point dog but OK. The Tigers offense has been getting a little better each week, while their defense has been pretty solid through out. Hopefully the LSU that played Florida and Alabama shows up and not the LSU that struggled against La. Tech. Win.

Season Record 40-38-2
Pick 'em Challenge 6-13-1
There you have it, my 5 guaranteed losers. Please feel free to fade all of my picks and enjoy the money that I will win you because I obviously have become allergic to covering college football games and money.

Weekend Recap NCAA Week 11/ NFL Week 10

Garbage. Crap. Dumpster fire. Pants shit. Pants defecating. That sums up the weekend, I went 4-4 on my NFL picks as Vegas had a huge weekend. I hit with the Patriots on some unpublished action in a desperation late trigger pull that helped my account with a 10 unit haul. I also quintupled down on the Ravens last night to pull in some heavy units. Vegas was thrilled to see me and Billy Vegas reeling and on the ropes. After the 4pm NFL games Billy Vegas's and my accounts resembled Cotto's face after his fight against Pac-man on Saturday night. The good news is that I can only get better, I have been in a month long rut and hired a priest to come to my house and excercise the evil spirits lurking within. I also sprinkled some brick dust in front of both doors at my house to keep the evil spirits from returning. I have seen the NFL lines and there isn't alot that gives me the warm and fuzzies.

NFL Week #10 Free Money Report

I am racheting up my NFL action this week, I will probably go with 10 posted games. I have already locked in 3 games for Sunday. I had another decent Sunday last week, bringing my NFL season record to 44-16-1. It has been keeping me in the game. I will also be posting some NFL Live Dog ML's when they come out usually on Saturday. I will be out of town this weekend so hopefully I can get them up in time. Let's dive into what I have for this weekend begining with the Thursday night showdown. I need some winner's this Sunday hopefully it will cure the flu that I currently have.

49ers -3 The Bears are falling apart, now they must go to the West coast and play a desperate 49ers squad on a weeknight which should make for a rabid environment. Both teams have huge problems with their offensive lines. For the Bears this explains why Forte is struggiling and Cutler is under constant pressure, if the Bears had an O-line they would be a much better team. The 49ers have injuries on their O-line as well, they also have Frank Gore though. Smith has been doing OK in place of Hill and has some weapons. The Bears defense has been having problems as well as the Bengals and Cards have torched them in recent weeks. I just think a west coast trip on a short week against a desperate squad will be too much to handle, plus the Bears hate winning on the road. The Bears are also 1-5 ATS in their last 6 on the road. 2 units.Win.

Broncos -3 Kyle Orton had his bad game, so now its out of the way. The public is down on the Broncos now, but I'm not. I have bet on every game they have played this year, going with them 6 times and against them twice. The Broncos have a special place in my heart, they were the first team I bet on when I arrived in Vegas at the NYNY Sportsbook, and they were a winner. Hello Money!! Me > Vegas. I thought to myself "wow, this covering stuff is easy" I strutted around like a cock strong rooster till my girlfriend reminded me I only won $40. The Redskins out gained the Falcons last week, but Campbell is garbage and now they are starting Ladell Betts. The Broncos are a proud veteran team and what better tonic than a tilt with the Deadskins. Their defense will pound Campbell and Collins won't get it done either. Statement game here for the Broncos as they will get back on track in a big way with some solid D and a couple of Redskin turnovers, which will prove costly to them and Vegas. 4 units.Loss.

Bengals +7 The Steelers are on a short week, but they have found their stride. If the Bengals were favored I would take the Steelers here. The Bengals are the new Eagles because they play well as underdogs. The loss of Odom will show itself here as Medenhall is turning into quite the back. The Bengals bottled up Rice last week as well as Flacco, but the Steelers have alot of weapons which will make it difficult to focus on Medenhall when you have Miller, Ward, Holmes and Wallace running around. The Bengals pass defense has been good, we can partially thank a good pass rush for that. Both teams are playing very well right now and this is a rivalry game, which means it should be very tight. I think the Steelers take this one by 2 and we take Vegas by alot. 3 units.Win.

Bills +7 I know, VY just doesn't lose as a starter, very true. However, I am not sure if the Titans are ready to be TD favs here. I was on them last week as they beat the 49ers, but I was getting 4 points. The Bills rush D is iffy at best. Their pass D is very stingy and lets not forget, I always fade the Bills when they are at home and ride them when they are on the road. For some reason they love to cover on the road 6-1 ATS in last 7 road games (Jets, Carolina to name a couple) The key here for the Bills will be stopping Johnson. VY likes to scramble and spread the defense. Hopefully the Bills can limit him and force VY into 3rd and long to move the chains. Edwards will be back for this contest, maybe he will actually throw a deep ball in this game and test the Titans secondary, most likely he will just dump it off to Lynch and Jackson, lets hope that is enough to move the chains. Dick Jauron is 3-0 ATS coming off a bye. Unfortunately for Vegas The Blanket doesn't have a bye week. 1 unit. Loss.

Saints -14 I have already locked this game in. The Saints need to come out strong here, people are starting to question them because they have been falling behind early, albeit against some quality opponents but they have been behind none the less. As long as the Saints can limit Steven Jackson they should be OK, Sedrick Ellis has been out and Denagelo Williams ran wild against them last week, but the Rams do not have and O-line like the Panthers and they also do not have a Steve Smith to take the focus off of. The Saints should focus on stopping Jackson and force Bulger to throw on them. The Rams and Bulger will have trouble with the Saints pass rush as well as their improved secondary. I just don't see how the Rams can keep Brees on the sideline long enough to keep this game from being a laugher, I will be laughing to the bank with some more of that Vegas cash!!! 5 units.Loss.

Buccaneers +10 I cannot believe I just typed that. The Bucs cost me a lot of money last week, which is inexcusable. I watched the whole game and the team was surprisingly motivated all game long and really helped out their young QB Freeman who probably gained alot of confidence. The Bucs made some new additions to their team in the bye week and it showed. The secondary played well, special teams was special, the D-line got alot of pressure on Rodgers (which isn't hard) and the O-line played well protecting Freeman who was sacked only one time. The Dolphins are coming off a really tough loss and now they have to get up for a 1-7 team? I think they will be flat here. I am expecting a nice game from the Bucs secondary which should frustrate Henne and is young WR corps. I have no doubt the Dolphins will win this game, but 10 points is alot for them to handle. The Dolphins struggle to cover spreads of more than 3, so that fact coupled with the psychology edge should play into our hands and bank accounts here. The Dolphins also struggle against NFC opponents 0-6 ATS under head coach Sparano. I am going to wait his game out and hope the public goes the other way and drives the spread to +11, when that happens I will snatch it up with a 4 unit play.Win.

Cowboys -3 The Packers are done, this is another game in which I already locked it in with a 5 unit play for even money. Green Bay couldn't keep the Bucs D-line away from Rodgers, so how exactly are they gonna stop Demarcus Ware?? I see Rodgers throwing another three pic's in this game maybe 2 for ball hawking Mike Jenkins FROM???? USF. The Cowboys secondary will give Rodgers all kinds of problems in this game, I see alot of coverage sacks here. With the Packers struggling to score points I think Romo will continue his solid, interception free play here, Miles Austin needs a big game and I don't see the Packers stopping the Cowboys rushing game because they couldn't do it against the Bucs. I don't care if they are in Lambeau, won't matter. Packers will be outplayed on both sides of the ball. 5 units.Loss.

Ravens -11 Another game I locked in early. The Ravens are a proud team full of veterans who are looking to make a statement. What better team to do that against then the Browns, what better time to do it then on Monday night football? The Browns are a mess and are starting Brady Quinn who will get eaten alive as he is afraid to throw the ball down field, he won't do that with Ed Reed hanging around back there. Rice should have a bounce back game here which will be good for Flacco allowing him time to throw by using the play action. The Browns have a decent defense but their offense is so inept they are always on the field, that will be the downfall here as the Ravens need this win to salvage any Wildcard hopes. Ravens easy. 5 units.Win.

Season Record: 48-20-1

I have posted 8 games so far and will return with two more, I like the Eagles, but have some more digging to do for my 10th game. See you soon.
